WRITING WONDERS HOMEWORK POLICY

Writing Wonders implements a scaffolding process to teaching writing. We start with full guided support and instant correction and over time steer your child or teen towards independent, confident writing.

Just like learning music or another language, writing is always a work in progress. At Writing Wonders, we celebrate progress while continually guiding and encouraging students to practice skills to refine their writing.

With that said, please note our homework policies for each class below:

For our Beginner Essays and Stories classes, we send a spelling practice sentence that incorporates words your child or teen did not know how to spell in class. Please encourage your child or teen to complete these sentences and send a picture to their teacher!

For our Foundations, Level 1, and Level 2 Grammar classes, weekly homework is sent home. However, we do not have time to go over this homework in class and leave it up to the parents to check your child’s or teen’s homework each week.

For our Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5 essay writing classes, we can send optional homework, and parents can send us a picture of the student’s completed work. Viewing the homework will guide our instruction for the student’s next class. If, however, you would like us to edit, comment, and return the homework back to you, please refer to our editing services below.

For our Advanced Creative Writing and Writer’s Workshop classes, we do not issue homework other than encouraging your child/teen to add to his/her story.

Editing Your Child’s or Teen’s Work

Please understand that our teaching schedules are packed. Thus, if you would like a teacher to edit additional essays or stories, we have to charge for that time. The price is $6 per page, and you can find and submit editing requests HERE.

WRITING COMPETITIONS

Finally, regarding Writing Competitions, we absolutely encourage our students to participate in writing competitions and have drafted a list HERE.

If a student independently drafts an entire essay, we can arrange a private one on one lesson to show the student how to improve his or her essay.

On the contrary, we do not agree with, or approve of, a student using an essay that was completed in one or our online guided writing classes. It’s important to our instructors that the student submits an essay that completely reflects the student’s independent ability. If you have any questions about this, please contact Angie at writingwondersandmore@gmail.com.

Thank you again for choosing Writing Wonders!
